The British royal family is currently facing a time of uncertainty and difficulties. Princess Kate Middleton of Wales has been diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer that was found after abdominal surgery earlier this year.
When Middleton went in for her abdominal surgery back in January, the doctors did not think her condition was cancerous at the time. She went into surgery because of an enlarged prostate. Middleton is now undergoing chemotherapy, and she has been absent from the public as well as her royal duties in order to rest and recover. She has also asked for time, space, and privacy for her and her family as they are going through this difficult time.
Things have definitely been a royal pain for the family. Supposedly, William and Kate Middleton don’t want Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visiting them. Harry and Meghan found out about Kate’s diagnosis through television instead of being told directly by William or Kate. This could be seen as an opportunity to add on some drama on top of the feuds that Harry and William have had between each other.
Middleton also went through a controversy over a photo of her and her three children, her two sons, George and Louis, ages 10 and 5, and their daughter, Charlotte, age 8. She was accused of photographic manipulation from a photo posted online for the UK’s Mother’s Day on March 10, and it did not meet the AP’s (Associated Press) standards. The edits made in the photo were on Princess Charlotte’s clothing, Kate and Charlotte’s hair, and on a window. People are thinking that the photo may have been edited because Middletom was trying to hide what has been going on with her medically.
The royal family faces more medical uncertainty. It was announced in February that King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. His cancer is a pancreatic form of cancer.
Some people may think that these problems in the royal family would bring everyone closer together. However, King Charles has stated that he does not think Prince William would be fit for king as there “could be consequences.” He is also frustrated with the monarchy because it is only running at about 50% capacity. King Charles is known as a remarkably hard worker, and his cancer journey has caused him to lighten his load to rest and recover.
Queen Camila and Prince William have both stayed active in their royal duties. Prior to the cancer entering into Kate and Charles, William and Camilla had a strained relationship. For the past few weeks, they have both formed an alliance as both of their spouses are having to drop everything.
This is definitely a hard and eventful time for the royal family of the United Kingdom. People are sending well wishes and prayers to Kate, Charles, and the rest of the family as things are currently being worked out. Middleton will come back to serving as Princess once her doctors feel that she is ready to do so.
