OBU debate team finishes semester as top team in the nation

The OBU Debate team competed in their last tournament of the semester early November at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX.

Half of the team advanced to the championship rounds, with Arielle Heiser winning third speaker overall. Meagan Hill finished as an octofinalist, while Heiser and Jennifer Pensamiento-Hilton were quarterfinalists. Chris Claibourn finished as a semifinialist, making this tournament the third in which OBU debators made it to the semifinals.

Following the tournament at ETBU, the OBU novice debate team is the number one team in the nation, beating schools like Southern Methodist University and Union University.

The team will resume competition next semester with their first tournament in February.
