Oklahoma Baptist women’s soccer team is planning a trip through the Avery T. Willis Center for Global Outreach.
“The GO [center] is preparing us to be ready and share the gospel during this trip,” sophomore Emily said. “Our goal is also to participate through soccer camps sharing our skills with children and women from our destinations.”
The Lady Bison will visit West Asia and Europe in the trip to be expected between August 6 and August 18.
“Armenia was willing to host a soccer team and provide opportunities to build relationships between Americans and Armenians,” head coach Mike White said.
“England was chosen due to the opportunity to work with a church in Cambridge (St. Andrew’s Street Baptist Church), with whom we had a prior relationship.”
OBU women’s soccer is also hoping to play high-level contests in preparation to the new NCAA schedule in agenda.
“We are in the process of contacting professional teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea and others; we are hoping to play their lady academy teams,” White said.
“Our soccer goal is to play high level competition in order to prepare us for our upcoming NCAA season.”
The Lady Bison will also focused on making a large impact through the Gospel.
“This opportunity will get us out of our comfort zones and engage us in cultures different from our own,” sophomore and captain Jennifer said. “Our ultimate goal is to serve and love on other people in such a way that they are drawn to Christ.”
The Lady Bison are selling t-shirts and seeking donations.
